Meet our newest and smallest member of the family: Spartacus. He’s a Papillon, 16 weeks old and weighs 2 1/2 pounds. He’ll grow to 4 pounds. Here he is about to beat up his new toy, Trudy. We got him yesterday evening from a local breeder. Spartacus is very sweet, very active and about as big as my hand. We’re keeping him somewhat separated from the cats although they have met each other. So far, Spartacus has been the most excited about the encounters – happily shaking his tail and making coo-ing noises. Squeak, TickTock and Junior are curious but a little confused: “Never seen such a thing. It’s not a cat but what is it?”

Junior yesterday helped with the laundry or so he believed. Just a moment ago he came into the room while Spartacus was roaming about. Junior moved around very slowly while keeping a close eye on this new little creature. After a while Spartacus spotted him and while wagging bounced toward Junior. Junior backed away quickly and left the room. Such a scare this little dog about 1/3 his size!
